I AM SOOOO MAD. I got the records and they told me I needed to get an ultrasound done today. So I go over to the hospital after convincing Ryan to get off of work to sit with the kids. They said they have no appts. I tell them NASA sent me over and said I could get it done since I have an appt Wed. They call over to NASA who acts like they never heard of me. Tell me to call Ft Eustis or Portsmouth. Fuming, I get in the car and call Ft. Eustis who are closed until 12:30. Get home, cry all the way home and get Ryan to beg for the afternoon off. Finally reach Ft. Eustis who has no appts until June and can't get me in unless I talk to the dr. to authorize it. Call his office, he is closed until 1. Call the dr. I have to see off base to check and see if I need it and they are closed until 1:30. UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH. Ryan sent it up his chain of command but I'm ready to write Congress. I am sooo sick of getting second class care and getting the run around.
Finally I get to the Dr. I saw on Friday, he makes one call to Ft. Eustis X-ray who can't get me in today, but got me at the local hospital at 8:30 am Monday. Geesh.

I know how you feel. I'm on Medicaid, as are the girls... but the thing is, I WORK for a living. I only have two kids and I get treated like women that are popping out six or seven kids at my age that have NO job. Plus... those women get first priority. Why is it so backwards??? Hope you find out something soon.
Would it be possible for you to switch to Tricare (uhh... Prime, maybe?) where you have a doctor off base? The downside is you'll have a small co-payment or whatnot, but you get your own doctor. Who CARES (or at least a little more than military docs do). That's what I always had growing up and it worked out much, much better than trying to get appointments on base (unless you're overseas. For some reason, overseas hospitals are fantastic in my experience).
It seems crazy you have to go through all that trouble, the situation is totally ridiculous!
That is absolutely horrible!
I am sorry youre getting the run around, I would be in tears, too! I hope you get some answers soon.
On a lighter note, saw you at BG last night :) Hope you guys had a blast!
Kim- I am STILL in shock at the state of medical care the military is providing you. If you write letters, tell me what you write and I'll send my own for you. Thinking of you...
Is this how the government cares for military families??? This is awful. AWFUL. They need to spend less money on wild goose chases in Iraq and start taking care of you... Something needs to be done about it.
