In some sick way, I am proud of my bruised toenail because it shows how hard I have been working. Or maybe how bad I am at buying shoes. My poor roomates had to listen to me complain about it all weekend in NYC because it got stepped on/bent 3 times so now it's really irritated. I was having a hard time hobbling around in cute shoes in the city.

NYC

I had a great time visiting with my roomates. We did some sightseeing at Ground Zero, Canal Street (love knockoff purses), Times Square, Central Park, and Little Italy. It was so fun. We went to a Coyote Ugly-esque bar called Hogs and Heffers one night. The bartenders were blowing fire! It was a good trip, although I am very tired. I was not used to the staying up until 3 am habits of the big city folk!

I do NOT want to go back to work tomorrow. It feels like it is suposed to be summer break already, instead of spring break. 8 more weeks of school to go. The latest news from Ryan is he is leaving there the 10th, but no idea where he will stop over, or what time/day he will be back. All secured information I suppose.

I ran 2 miles yesterday in 17:40 and today I ran 2 miles in 17:18. I have a 6 mile day this week. My 5K training program is almost over, so I'm going to do the 10K training program next. Eventually I want to do a 1/2 marathon. I am excited for Ryan and I to run together when he gets home. He has done 490 miles since he's been gone. I'm so proud of him! We'll be signing up for lots of races when he returns.

5 days until my New York vay-cay. I'm very excited! I hope we have nice weather.

Ryan as a rockstar

Drake

I just thought this picture was so cute! I had been trying to get his paws for Ryan because they were green from him playing in the yard after I cut the grass. I snapped this one of his face and I love it!

Spring Break

I had a good time in St. Louis. I managed to visit my parents, my in-laws, my friend Susan, and my niece Madeline. I had a great time, and I'm glad to be home with a few days to recover. It feels like school should already be over though. The last 8 weeks are going to be LONG. Luckily I have NYC next weekend, and Ryan coming home around the 10th! Yay! Enjoy some pictures from my trip.

Hot time, summer in the city...

Just when you thought you could only build ships and planes out of fries...KC135-Sponsored by Oscar Meyer

Ryan Update:

It's been really hot. Today we decided to take the temperature around
the flightline just to see how hot it gets. Inside our tent with the AC
blasting (at 40 degrees) it was 91. On the flightline in the shade it
reached 105. In the sun at the shop it was 108. In the sun on the
flightline it was 112. And then inside the truck (which has no AC) with
the windows down it was 120. So that is really nice and it isn't even
as hot as it is going to get.

Similarity?

Note how similar Ryan's glasses look? He says he won't like my big glasses, his are pretty big too. Mind you his are desert and bullet-proof.

Sunglasses

Maybe it's the spring weather. Maybe it's my trip to NYC with my stylish college roomates. Maybe it's my obsession with MTV and E. I broke down and got some of the biggest ones I could find!

Award

Last month Ryan recieved an award, and he recently sent me a slide from the Powerpoint they displayed about him. Here it is! AIC Ryan Windle

The 379 Air Expeditionary Wing is proud to present A1C Ryan Windle the FOD Fighter of the Month Award.

During a routine pick up of a Lox Cart on the Coalition Ramp A1C Windle noticed several pieces of safety wire underneath an engine of a C-130 Aircraft.

A1C Windle’s situational awareness, coupled with his actions to do the right thing epitomizes our core value of integrity. He has proven himself to be a valuable asset to the 379 EMXS AGE flight and the 379 AEW mission

In other news, twice now I have run 5 miles! Woo-hoo!

Sigh

Okay, this is a familiar topic for me. But today, I was dressed super adult/trendy. I had this a-line pink and brown skirt with flowers and a ribbon - a pink short sleeve sweater with a drape neck, and this big chunky brown necklace. Not to mention the cutest Barbie-inspired shoes...pink with open toe and brown trim. So I stop at the Wawa to get a low-fat french vanilla cappucino. As I check out the lady says, "Have a good day at school". I look down, and no, as I thought, I was not wearing my Barron Elementary ID. I said, well I'm going to work, but I teach at a school. She said "Oh". For real, what high school or college student is 24 and trendy. I even had make-up on...sigh...

Weekend

It was a pretty uneventful weekend. Well, I did lots of stuff, just nothing too exciting to report. Friday night I played games at a friend's house from work. Saturday I spent the day working out and shopping, not to mention mowing and fertilizing the yard. Boy, my arm hurts from starting the mower. It's hard to do! Then that night I had a surprise party to go to for my assisstant. Got home late (11:30) for me at least, and was tired today with the time change. I got my 4 mile run in and went to church. I took a new friend from work along with me. Then I spent today cleaning the cars out, napping, and reading a book. I'm so thrilled that it is lighter later. I just love spring. Especially since now it's a little over a month until Ryan comes home!!! My big accomplishment this week...I ran a little over 5 miles on Thursday. Woo hoo :-)
